About NSE-NYU Stern Initiative on the Study of Indian Financial Markets.

Set up in 2012, the NSE-NYU Stern Initiative, a product of the collaboration between Stern School of Business, New York University and National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India, aims at creating an environment where the academia and the finance industry complement each other to provide research support for effective policy making. The NSE - NYU annual conference is part of this initiative. Over the years, it has evolved to be one of the most prestigious conferences on financial markets in India. The 2020 conference marks the eighth successful year of the Initiative. Every year, the Initiative supports six research projects every year, which are screened from over 40 international submissions received in response to a Call for papers. The papers are reviewed thoroughly before and after the Conference as well as discussed at the Conference by independent referees. The final papers are then published on NSE’s website for greater benefit. Some of the papers have also been published in finance and economics journals of international repute.

The papers this year comprise research in topics such as portfolio inventory risk, geographical variation in investment, effect of government guarantees on financial stability, power of financial literacy among women, retail trading in IPOs and role of speculative investors, and effect of armed conflict on lending decisions.
